Hippopotamuses are time bomb
August 27, 2009African experts who have come to Colombia to investigate the more than 20 hippopotamuses that are in the country say the huge beasts are a time bomb. Not only are they a threath to people who live in their territory, also do they change the biodiversity in the region because of their own biological pecularities, the two African experts say. What happened to Pablo’s hippo Matilda?
July 31, 2009Within a month after Pablo Escobar’s hippopotamus Pepe’s tragical death, Colombia’s Environment Minister announces that his mate, Matilda, probably died as well. According to him, some villagers of the area where she is supposed te be roaming with her baby Hip, killed her. She was, says the minister, a danger to the people.

Hippo Pepe’s drama doesn’t stop
July 25, 2009Even after his death, Pablo Escobar’s hippopotamus Pepe isn’t left alone. In the village of Guasca, in the centre of Colombia close to Bogotá, a hippopotamus’ head was found. It probably is poor Pepe’s head. (more…)

The tragical death of Pablo’s hippo Pepe
July 23, 2009A few weeks ago something happened that many had feared. One of Pablo Escobar’s hippopotamuses that had escaped from his Hacienda Nápoles, was killed. Pablo Escobar’s male hippo is gone
March 25, 2009News about Pablo Escobar’s hippopotamuses, says Colombia’s daily El Tiempo. They are separated. The male escaped after peasants near the small town of Puerto Berrío fired at him. Veterinarians who follow the two hippos which escaped Pablo‘s Hacienda Nápoles 1,5 years ago, suppose the animal escaped through a small river because the rivers have grown after the heavy rains. Hippopotamuses are killing
