On Pablo Emilo Moncayo, a landmine and child soldiers (6)

November 30, 2009

Look how war can affect a family in Colombia. If Pablo Emilio Moncayo is not going to be liberated soon, he will celebrate his 12th anniversary as a hostage of the FARC within a few weeks. In the meantime his cousin David – also a militar – stepped on a mine which was probably also laid by the FARC. And shortly after a big conference on child soldiers in Bogotá Colombia’s daily El Tiempo published an article on ‘strange recruiting of youngsters’ by the Colombian army. (more…)

Despairing, the state of affairs of the expected liberation of two FARC hostages, Pablo Emilio Moncayo and Josué Calvo. It seems that Colombia’s government cannot make up its mind about what to do, and meantime these guys keep on suffering. (more…)

Liberation of FARC hostages instead of reelection or Piedad 14

August 31, 2009

Incredible, these men have been hostages of the FARC in Colombia for years, who try to comfort their families in their survival proofs which were given to senator Piedad Córdoba in Bogotá. Some of them also express their anger because nothing is being done to get them free. All the important persons have been liberated: all the politicians and especially Íngrid Betancourt and the three Americans, for whom was organized the spectacular Operation Jaque. Everybody who was with them, was lucky, I guess. (more…)

The return of Piedad Córdoba or Piedad 12

It seems to be a ‘smoke screen’ because the Uribe government is in trouble again, but it is excellent news: Colombia’s senator Piedad Córdoba has been authorized to negotiate with the left wing guerrilla FARC about the liberation of the remaining hostages. (more…)

The Moncayo’s suffering has to end or Piedad 11

June 6, 2009

It has been eleven years that the soldier Pablo Emilio Moncayo has been a hostage of the FARC. He was supposed to be released, through the mediation of senator Piedad Córdoba, but president Uribe stopped the process because he didn’t want ‘ a political show’ to happen. Now hope has disappeared for the poor guy, thanks to the inhumanity of the FARC and the stubbornness of the president. (more…)
