Senator Víctor Velásquez in Colombia wants to oblige the gay, lesbian, bisexual en transsexual population as well as prostitutes to dress more decently in public. Neither are they allowed to express their sexual preference, as the daily newspaper El Espectador said.
Velásquez caused a lot of indignation. Politicians as well as interest groups stated that the ideas of the senator are completely anachronistic and reactionary. But the senator thinks it will improve the relation between citizens and will protect children.
And that in a country in which many women burst out of their clothes, love to wear short skirts and are eager to show their lifted cleavage. Will that not be a damage to the delicate children’s soul?
It is not the first time that Vélasquez caused commotion with his ideas. He also proposed that a program in which homosexuality was an item would be shown later in the evening, so that it would not be seen by children.
